the county seat of the berkshires

if I had titled it "Pittsfield" some of you might have cringed and not bothered to see what I am up to. I am currently in western Massachusetts and have been here for about 30 hours. Activities have included eating steamed lobsters and clams, playing golf at the Pontoosuc Lake Country Club, relaxing at the Pittsfield Brew Works and Patrick's Pub, eating Teo's hot dogs, and playing cribbage. Vacation, people...I need it for a couple of days.

del boca vista phase II

so I went to see my grandma Ruth this week, she moved to Ft. Pierce last month from Lavonia, Georgia where she had lived for about 20 years on the lake. She bought a condo in Gator Trace development and I totally feared that I would meet Morty and Helen Seinfeld as neighbors, but it seems that it is more of a mixed community with various ages in it. The condo itself is nice and is on the 6th hole of the golf course. However I read through the community covenants and found out that pets have to be less than 50 pounds! that means NO OLIVER. I know that Grandma Ruth is quite relieved that my threat to bring Oliver to get her kicked out is nothing more than a threat. I got to eat some raw oysters while in Ft. Pierce as well as some fried seafood.

The drive was not that bad once you got past Orlando on the Florida Turnpike. On the way back I decided to be experimental and I went on I-95 north to Daytona Beach and took state road 40 back through the Ocala National Forest. I had expected a quiet rural drive but really it is very overrun with lake tourists and airboat rides and little diners along the way. The key find: at the corner of SR 40 and US 17, there is an outdoor ornament place that can provide you great items for your front yard. While intrigued by the statue of liberty which could be in my yard, I think the huge chicken is what everyone needs. Let me know if you need further details.
