Cuba is the next island over, and it´s also octopus season

I read a good article on the bus to Palenque about how Castro can´t live forever and in Cuba they´ve been preparing for Fidel´s brother, Raul, to take over. At the same time, the U.S. is likely to make a move during the first couple of weeks of a transition. Since nothing much has changed in Cuba for decades, imagine my surprise when I saw huge crowds in Miami on CNN en espanol cheering and a whole lot of intrigue into what´s happening. You can actually fly to Havana from Merida, which of course is tempting for the U.S. students. Read about what´s happening on CNN.

Also widely reported is that today is the first day of octopus season (el pulpo). we saw the fisherman preparing when we were in Campeche last week.
